How to open a ViaWallet account

What is ViaWallet?
ViaWallet was launched in March 2019 by ViaBTC, a mining pool. It supports BTC, ETH, and more than 24 other digital assets. You will find the list of all the assets supported by ViaWallet by clicking here. You can use ViaWallet to keep your assets secure and send and receive cryptocurrencies.
Download ViaWallet
ViaWallet is available to download on smartphone platforms like iOS and Android.
Setup ViaWallet
Once you launch the application, you will have access to 3 different tabs : “Wallet”, “Discover” and “Me”.
Wallet is basically the landing page when you open up the app for the first time. It is where you can watch over your own assets and others you would like to buy in the future. Discover is where you can use the other functionalities of ViaWallet. Me your personal sections where you can customize your preferences and adjust security settings.
Secure your Wallet
In order to protect datas and cryptocurrencies that will be in your ViaWallet, you have to complete several security processes. On the landing page or in the Wallet section, you have to choose between :
“Create” if you don’t have a wallet yet
Or
“Import” if you already have a wallet
If you want to create a wallet. Click on Create.
- Set a strong and secure password from 6 to 32 characters. Make sure you set a proper and safe password because it is used to protect your wallet and is not recoverable if lost or forgotten.
Once your password is confirmed you will have to give a name to your Wallet.
- Type a Wallet name in the dedicated text area.
- After creating your Wallet’s name you will have to set a backup mnemonic phrase. Basically it is 12 words in English to help you restore your wallet assets. Keep it for yourself because anyone can use it and transfer your assets. ViaWallet will propose a 12-word backup sentence. You have to write it down in the same order as displayed.
- The app is going to ask you to choose the words that match the backup sentence displayed right before to make sure you have the correct backup on your end.
Your Wallet is now ready to send or receive assets!
Note that you can adjust your security settings in the “Me” section and lock your app (auto-lock) and choose to unlock it with FaceID.
Choose your Crypto
ViaWallet supports more than 50 assets including BTC, ETH, ETC, RVN, ERG and many others.
You can choose to display any coin supported by ViaWallet by clicking the green “+” button at the right corner of the “Wallet” section. You will see the list of all the coins supported by ViaWallet and you will be able to add and remove any coin to your “Favorites”. The favorites list will be displayed on the landing page.
Receive your crypto
Select the cryptocurrency you want to receive and click on it. If it is not displayed on the landing page, just go through the “Choose your crypto” right above.
Once you choose your cryptocurrency, click on the receive button. This option is at the bottom of the page. A new page with a QR code and your written wallet address will appear.
Send your crypto
To make cryptocurrency transactions on ViaWallet, choose your cryptocurrency, and click on the Send button. A new page will appear and will ask you for a Recipient’s wallet address and the amount you want to transfer.
