Increase the virtual memory
Increasing virtual memory is a process that enables the use of the memory of your disk drive instead of your physical memory RAM. We suggest you increase to a higher value, also it is better to have the same virtual memory size as your physical memory size. For example, if you have a sum of 16 Gb RAM GPUs, we suggest you increase the virtual memory to 16000 Mb.
To increase the Windows virtual memory, follow these steps:
Open the Windows settings and go to the System section.
Go to the System info tab.
Select System info.
Select Advanced System Settings.
Click on Settings in the Performance section.
Select Advanced, then Change.
Uncheck the Automatically manage paging file size for all drives.
Tick Custom size.
Put the new value according to our previous suggestion on the initial and maximum size field.
Save your change by clicking on Set and OK.
Windows will ask you to restart your machine to activate the change.
Disable sleeping mode
The sleeping mode is absolutely to ban during mining activities because it will shut down your mining if you are inactive.
To disable the sleeping mode, follow these steps:
- Open your Windows settings and go to the System section.
- Go to Power & Sleep tab.
- Select Never in the two drop-down menus.
Disable Windows Update
Disabling Windows Update avoids future automatic updates from Windows which can shut down your mining when you are not here. Obviously, you are not exempt from updating your machine when you have the time.
To disable Windows Update, follow these steps:
- Type Services in the search bar of your Windows.
- Look for Windows Update in the list of services
- Right-click and select Properties
- Select Disabled on the Startup type drop-down menu
